Job Responsibility
1. Control Room Operations & Supervision
- Supervise and lead control room personnel, including managing shift rotations for 24/7 coverage.
- Ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for monitoring, incident response, and escalation.
- Oversee control room operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient BESS performance.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system performance, availability, and response times.
- Coordinate with field operations, engineering, vendors, and customers to resolve complex operational issues.

2. Systems & Data Management
- Utilise specialized software and systems (e.g., SCADA, HMI, EMS) to monitor alarms, performance, and operational status.
- Perform trend analysis and monitor alarm patterns to identify performance issues and recommend improvements.
- Oversee data management, ensuring accuracy and integrity of real-time information and historical records.
- Maintain and improve control room tools and dashboards, recommending system enhancements based on technological advancements.
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation of operational events and performance metrics.

3. Incident & Emergency Response
- Act as the primary point of contact for escalation during incidents and emergencies.
- Coordinate rapid and effective response actions in collaboration with field teams and engineering.
- Develop, document, and implement emergency response protocols, incident handling procedures, and control strategy improvements.
- Conduct post-incident analysis (root cause analysis) and implement preventive actions to avoid recurrence.

4. Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing team of control room operators and supervisors.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to develop operator competence and professionalism.
- Set clear performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage personnel development plans.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and safety-focused team culture, especially within a 24/7 operational environment.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's or other degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in control room operations, ideally in BESS, power generation, or grid operations.
- Strong understanding of SCADA/HMI systems, EMS, and BESS control systems.
-Demonstrated experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and emergency response.
-Strong leadership skills and experience managing shift-based teams.
-Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams.
-Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as NERC CIP is preferred.
-Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills
- Experience with battery storage systems and inverter/PCS operations.
- Familiarity with DERMS, microgrid control, or utility grid operations.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and OT network best practices.
- Full UK driving license
